About Shelly Leduke
My stint as an adult educator started over 20 years ago, when I was pregnant for my son. I needed something to do while I was pregnant and waiting to move (yet again) as a military wife. I started volunteering in an adult education classroom
Over the years, I have given many a presentation, to both students and peers. I've photocopied my share of handout packets and loaded them into boxes bound for fancy hotels. I've handed out business cards displaying my email address so that my guests can ask for this resource or that that I slipped into my presentation, unplanned. I've apologized for guests' inability to read a small-print slide. I've packaged up leftover handouts that became scrap paper when I unloaded them from my car.
On the other side of the podium, I've met experts at conferences whose names ended up on scrap paper or whose business cards ended up lost at the bottom of my bag. I've returned to my desk with an inch-high stack of handouts, flyers, catalogs and sometimes even business cards that usually go into a folder with the name of the conference on the front and then into a drawer, never to be thought of again.
